Privacy Policy
Maphise is a social discovery and matching app operated by Cihangir Akman. This policy explains what data Maphise collects, how that data is used, when it is shared, and what choices users have.
Effective date: May 7, 20261. Data We Collect
Account and sign-in data
- Email address used for sign-in.
- Apple or Google sign-in information if the user chooses those providers.
- Internal account identifiers, authentication records, and sign-in records.
- Phone number only if phone sign-in is enabled and the user chooses it.
Profile and discovery data
- Username, display name, headline, bio, profile photo, location text, education, work title, company, skills, work summary, interests, intents, sub-modes, visibility settings, and preferences.
- Profile answers, onboarding answers, compatibility preferences, hard constraints, and discovery settings.
- Public profile surfaces, posts, captions, uploaded images, and social feed content.
Matching and character data
- Structured answers and profile signals used to calculate compatibility.
- AI-imported or user-imported profile data, normalized profile output, evidence/source details, trait snapshots, hard constraints, and missing-field state.
- Match runs, intro state, inbox state, chat state, and compatibility explanations.
Messages and user content
- Intro messages, chat messages, AI companion messages, AI companion responses, and related context needed to provide messaging and AI-assisted features.
- Reports, blocks, and safety-related submissions.
Location data
- Precise location coordinates when the user grants location permission and uses map discovery.
- Derived approximate location and zone-level discovery signals.
- Accuracy and expiry information for location signals.
Purchases and subscriptions
- Subscription status, product identifier, entitlement state, purchase history, expiration date, and related purchase metadata needed to unlock paid features.
Maphise does not collect credit card numbers or payment card details. Payments are handled by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat.
Invite and referral data
- Referral code, referral link activity, referred/referrer account identifiers, referral status, and completion state.
Device, app, and service data
- App version, platform, language, basic technical diagnostics, usage events needed for product functionality, and service readiness/error information.
- Notification permission state may be used on device to provide local chat notifications.
2. How We Use Data
- Create, authenticate, and secure accounts.
- Show profiles, posts, and social content.
- Power nearby discovery, map presence, radius unlocks, intros, matching, and chat.
- Personalize intent-specific experiences.
- Generate and explain compatibility, uncertainty, and fit.
- Operate AI-assisted profile and companion features.
- Process subscriptions, trials, restores, and paid access.
- Support invite and referral unlocks.
- Provide safety tools such as reports and blocks.
- Maintain service reliability, prevent abuse, and enforce product rules.
- Comply with legal, security, and platform obligations.
3. AI Features
Users may use Maphise AI features by answering in-app questions, importing structured AI-generated profile data, or sending messages to an AI companion.
When those features are used, Maphise may process the user message, recent in-app context, selected mode, language, generated response, structured profile signals, and limited usage details. AI companion requests may be sent to OpenAI to generate a response. Imported profile data is treated as input evidence, not automatic final truth.
4. What Other Users Can See
- Public profile information.
- Username, display name, headline, bio, interests, and intent labels.
- Profile photo and post media.
- Posts and captions.
- Approximate discovery presence.
- Limited compatibility, profile, or intent summary signals.
- Chat messages sent directly to them.
Other users do not receive internal evidence records, confidence values, precise GPS coordinates, private safety records, or hidden moderation signals as normal profile data.
5. When We Share Data
We do not sell personal data. We do not use user data to track users across apps and websites for third-party advertising.
We share data only as needed to operate Maphise, including with:
- Supabase for authentication, secure data storage, and backend infrastructure.
- RevenueCat for subscription status, purchase validation, and entitlement management.
- Apple and Google for platform sign-in, app distribution, in-app purchase, and operating system services.
- OpenAI when a user uses AI companion or AI-assisted profile features.
- Map, device, hosting, email, logging, or infrastructure providers as needed to provide the service.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to enforce our terms, to investigate abuse or fraud, or to protect users, the product, and service integrity.
6. Permissions
- Location permission to show nearby discovery and matching signals.
- Photo library permission so users can choose profile photos and post images.
- Notification permission for chat-related notifications.
- In-app purchase access for paid radius features.
Users can manage permissions from their device settings.
7. Retention and Deletion
We keep account, profile, content, matching, and purchase data for as long as needed to operate the product, support active accounts, provide paid access, maintain safety records, and meet legal or security obligations.
Location signals are designed to expire and refresh over time. Posts, profile photos, profile fields, visibility settings, and some preferences can be updated or removed in the app where supported.
Users may request account deletion or data deletion by contacting privacy@maphise.com. General product support requests can be sent to support@maphise.com. After a deletion request, some information may remain for a limited time in backups, security logs, payment records, or safety records where reasonably necessary.
8. User Choices
- Edit profile fields and profile photo.
- Change intents, sub-modes, preferences, hard constraints, and visibility settings.
- Choose whether to share location, photos, and notifications through device permissions.
- Delete or change content where the app provides controls.
- Block or report other users.
- Stop using invite/referral features.
- Manage subscriptions through Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Request access, correction, or deletion by contacting us.
9. Security
Maphise uses access controls, authentication, data protection policies, and service-provider security features to protect user data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to limit access to data to what is needed to operate and protect the service.
10. Children
Maphise is not intended for children under 18 or anyone below the minimum age required to use this type of service in their region.
11. International Processing
Users may access Maphise from different regions. Data may be processed in countries where Maphise or its service providers operate.
12. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves. When changes are material, we will update the effective date and make the updated policy available through our app listing, website, or support materials.
